How I Am Aligning My Practise with Rize Up

Image
Earlier this year I emailed Rize Up about some of the ideas I have in my partnership with them. They sent me a video of how they appeared on Sunrise. I was immensely proud and inspired by this segment that I decided to create some painting I plan on donating to the newly furnished houses Rize Up provide for family’s escaping domestic violence.  By making these paintings I’m healing parts of my wounded self to help others also heal from domestic violence. At uni I was encouraged to be just an exhibiting professional artist but since uni I have found my niche in my practice. The occasional exhibition does bring me joy but a big part of my practise is my activism and I need to be more proactive in this. Focusing on my activism has taught me to think of ways in which my art can help others more physically. This is where I find my drive in my artistic practise. There are more paintings to come that will be donated to Rize Up so watch this space.

It took me close to 5 years to manage a proper family cut off and I married into my husbands family. It’s not always easy being a part of a new family considering the treatment I have been use to and being raised differently but these challenges are worth it to create real positive change in my biological line. This blog will be about my experiences, raising awareness and keeping those informed who are interested in this event. I am currently having talks with Rize Up and Hawkesbury C...
