Walk Everyday May (An event that raises awareness about family domestic violence)

I came up with the idea of Walk Everyday May when I was doing my temporary internship at Arc Art and Design UNSW in 2021. I was learning a bit about event management and I realised that even though event management wasn’t the career for me, managing this annual event was.

As a child and young adult I experienced family violence by my biological family. Both sides would use me as a tug of war and then as I reached my individuation years I was neglected and abused physically and psychologically. It took me close to 5 years to manage a proper family cut off and I married into my husbands family.

It’s not always easy being a part of a new family considering the treatment I have been use to and being raised differently but these challenges are worth it to create real positive change in my biological line. This blog will be about my experiences, raising awareness and keeping those informed who are interested in this event. I am currently having talks with Rize Up and Hawkesbury City Council to see what we can come up with this year. :)
